Oliver Allenby-Smith trained on the south coast and practices as a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Hernia Surgeon at Poole Hospital and the BMI Harbour Hospital. His area of expertise is in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and in particular he focuses on benign upper gastrointestinal conditions. He is an expert in the full range of treatments for gall stones and has operated on over a thousand patients with this condition. His expertise in hernia surgery ranges from laparoscopic groin hernia repairs to abdominal wall reconstruction. Acid reflux can be an unpleasant condition and he is the first person in the south west of England to offer STRETTA endoscopic treatment to patients.
Mr Allenby-Smith has supported the development of the PHIN national database and data about surgeons should be available soon on their website. The Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) is the independent, government-mandated source of information about private healthcare which is working to empower patients to make better-informed choices.
